Join pianist Julia Scott Carey for a special solo piano performance featuring music from around the world. Set in the Garden’s iconic Limonaia conservatory at golden hour, this one-of-a-kind program will take you on a musical journey across the globe—along the rivers of the Peruvian mountains, across the beaches of New Zealand, through the icy waters of Greenland, and everywhere in between. Featuring music by seven contemporary composers, each piece reflects the distinctive character and beauty of the people and places that inspired it.

Sumner Tides by Salina Fisher, inspired by Sumner Beach in New Zealand 

African Sketches by Nkeiru Okoye, a four-movement suite inspired by the composer’s childhood years in Nigeria 

“Pomme Canelle” from 7 Pièces créoles by Alain Pierre Pradel, inspired by the sun, sea, and people of Guadeloupe 

Fjord by Isabelle Ryder, inspired by the icy waters and rugged coastline of Greenland 

Childhood Sweet by Adrian Wong, inspired by childhood memories of Hong Kong desserts 

Rio by Daniel Cuetoinspired by a river in the Peruvian cordillera  

Te Pari (“Les Falaises/The Cliffs”) by Jesse Plessis, originally composed for a film about the life and work of Flora Aurima, a Tahitian poet, writer and scholar.
